Throughout my life I’ve always remained pretty fit. Even when pregnant with my boys, I managed to keep running for a bit.
However the effects of pregnancy and a hectic work and home life has meant that nutrition has never been top of my radar. I found myself snacking on chocolate, drinking red bull to keep my energy levels up and eating the boys’ leftovers.
I’ve been following Rob’s updates for some time on Facebook and after a war of attrition I finally decided to take the plunge and try out his fitness and nutrition programme. Almost fell at the first hurdle as turns out a metal tape measure is not that effective for measuring parts of yourself. Then I stood on the scales and almost threw them out the window, as surely the little bastards must be lying to me!
Tantrum over I figured that it was all going to be uphill from now on. So for the last few days I’ve been on a high protein diet and I have totally cut the sugar out. Initially I was a tad grumpier than normal but by increasing protein levels I’m certainly feeling a bit more perky. The afternoon slumps are certainly occurring less. And more importantly I’m not hungry all the time.
I know there are going to be some challenges on the way; I’ve yet to go out for dinner or have a boozy evening out. But for me, this isn’t just a fad diet but a new way of looking at my relationship with food. I want to be fitter and faster and I’m looking at this being the answer.
